What's a card that is in a lot of top decks?

Oh yeah Squadron Hawk.  This was an easy to see mod for the Hawks.  Angry Birds are everywhere and they currently help dominate the Standard format in Magic.

About some of the alters I've done.

Well that's all the ones I've done up to today and I'll post more as I do them. I'm also happy to say I officially sold my first piece for a the huge amount of $5.00.  But it's a start.  That will at least get me a lunch.

I've also had some interest from people who would like me to do some alters for trades.  The most interest seems to be the "Anime babe" sensation that has hit ebay, but others would like me to do some others to spice up their tournament decks etc..  I'm still working on it but... Tomorrow I'll have my first cards targeted to major tournament decks etc..   Lets see what I can do with that $5.  Hopefully this will help me extend my collection so  it can feed itself and grow.

Ok.. last one I swear.....well until the next time.

Sorry what was I saying??

Scott Pilgrim saves me from a mean spell.

Want to hear a joke?

While I was working on my Lightning bolt I had The Dark Knight playing in the background so I had to do something and this card seemed appropriate.

I call down the Lightning to smite thee!

Inspired by the Thor movie trailer this came to mind.

And then I buckled

So I wanted to take a go at the anime babe lands I saw.  Please don't notice that it was a forest and an Elf.  I swear I'm not obsessed....much...

Doom!

Bwa ha.. my first non elf!

I present Counterspell.  My first altered card without an Elf.

OMG there's a forum with over a thousand posts with altered art?

So I knew that MTG Salvation had forums but Larry actually showed me the forums and the Altered Art threads.  I was inspired and made to want to get better because of these people who showed there work.  I also fell in love with Yawg's alters using Domo Kun.  So I felt the urge to do one myself.  (Again with the Elves)

Round 2 Fight!!

Continuing my elf love I did 4 Llanowar Elves.  I thought they would be simple  to extend the art and went to town and quickly did these cards.  Of course that also explains the mistake I made.  I let myself rush and afterwards I realized I made a boo boo  So I know I'm going to revisit these cards at a later date.

Let's Get started shall we.

Well I realized I really need to start posting the cards I've done sooo.... LET'S DO THIS!!!

This was my first attempt at altering cards.  I've always liked Elves and the first deck I built when coming back was mixing 2 Nissa Duels of the Planeswalkers decks together.

I learned some good and bad with these cards.  First I learned Never paint in a dimly lit room.  I causes you to use a bright color for a background when you really shouldn't.  I caught that and fixed it for the second two Elvish Champions and liked those a lot better.  Overall not as bad as I originally thought I'd do.

New Life for a dead blog

So the long story short is that I was never very good at blogging. Hell I'm not even good at posting on Facebook. Sooo I thought this could be a good way for me to save info on my new hobby. Larry got me sucked back into Magic the Gathering. Then he introduced me to altering Magic cards by either extending artwork out or changing the picture entirely. This has helped me take my limited resources and make it more fun for me.

So I'm on the cusp of trading some of the alters to others but I would like a record of what I've done so I can see progress. So I'll be posting the cards I've done here as well as new ones I do going forward.
